My Pinterest is skewed
I make a point of finding fantasy art that features Black people. It’s kinda hard to find anything that doesn’t lean Egyptian/Kemetic, Dark Continent tribalism, or make them blonde-haired/blue-eyed/whatever. One thing stands out though on my Pinterest board: the lack of variety of art featuring Black men over Black women.
There’s a lot of art featuring Black women, relatively speaking–it’s tied to my appreciation of the female form. Art featuring a variety of Black men is comparatively hard to find–mainly b/c I’m not looking at dudes. I have to make a change and be MORE inclusive of men who look like me, instead of just ogling Black ladies and seeing how they can fit in a world of dragons in dungeons.
